    Wijaya Karya Gedung (Wika Gedung), a subsidiary of construction firm, Wijaya Karya, is planning to conduct an initial public offering (IPO) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The company, which focuses on the construction of private buildings, offices, apartment, shopping centers, and other commercial as well as non-commercial buildings, plans to offer 30 percent of its total share capital to investors. Wika Gedung targets to raise a total of IDR 1.5 trillion (approx. USD $114.5 million) from this move.

  • Heavy Equipment Industry Indonesia Plagued by Low Commodity Prices

    Production of heavy equipment in Indonesia fell 23 percent (y/y) to 4,100 units in 2015 due to the weak conditions in the mining and agriculture sectors. Traditionally, most of heavy equipment sales occur in these two sectors. Weak demand caused utilization of the nation's installed production capacity for heavy equipment to fall to 41 percent in 2015 from 51 percent in the preceding year. When fully utilized Indonesia can produce an estimated total of 10,000 units of heavy equipment per year.

  • Construction Firm Adhi Karya Thriving on Indonesia's Infrastructure Push

    Indonesian publicly-listed construction firm Adhi Karya is expected to be one of the main beneficiaries of the government's push for infrastructure development across the archipelago. Adhi Karya is for 51 percent government-owned and therefore has close ties with the government. In the first ten months of 2015 Adhi Karya clinched IDR 10.6 trillion (approx. USD $774 million) worth of new contracts, up 100 percent from contracts won in the same period last year. Nearly half of these contracts involve projects (partly) financed by the central or local governments' budgets.

  • IPO of Indonesia Pondasi Raya (Indopora) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange

    Construction firm Indonesia Pondasi Raya plans to conduct an initial public offering (IPO) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in December 2015. The company, better known as Indopora, aims to raise around IDR 530 billion (approx. USD $39 million) by offering 303 million shares, or 15.1 percent of its paid-up capital, at a price ranging between IDR 1,280 and IDR 1,920 per share. This range is based on a price-to-earnings ratio of 8 to 12 times. Kurnia Salim, Head of Institutional Business at Yuanta Securities Indonesia, said Indopora is projected to collect IDR 333 billion (approx. USD $25 million) in net profit in 2016.

  • IPO of Paramita Bangun Sarana on the Indonesia Stock Exchange

    Indonesian general contractor Paramita Bangun Sarana targets to raise up to IDR 350 billion (approx. USD $26.5 million) through an initial public offering (IPO) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The company will offer up to 300 million shares, equivalent to 20 percent of its enlarged capital, to investors through the corporate move. Vincentius Susanto, Secretary at Paramita Bangun Sarana, said the indicative price for shares is set in the range of IDR 1,000 - 1,300 a piece. The offering period for the shares is scheduled for 16 - 20 September 2016, while listing on the (IDX) is scheduled for 27 September.

Indonesian authorities expect this bill to bring home trillions of rupiah (hundreds of million of US dollars) that partly flow into Indonesia's property sector.     Corporate earnings of Indonesian state-controlled construction and investment company Pembangunan Perumahan (abbreviated PP) are in line with analysts' forecasts. In the first quarter of 2016, PP's revenue rose 30.6 percent (y/y) to IDR 2.58 trillion (approx. USD $195 million), while net profit rose 5 percent (y/y) to IDR 98 billion (approx. USD $7.4 million) from the same quarter one year earlier. These figures indicate the company experienced a solid start of the year.

    Indonesia's economic growth in the first quarter of 2016 was rather disappointing at 4.92 percent (y/y), below analyst estimates that averaged around 5 percent (y/y), due to slowing household consumption, private investors being in a wait-and-see mode, and relatively weak government spending (a usual phenomenon at the year-start).     Indonesian cement sales have slowed and may not achieve the target set for 2014. In the first half of 2014, the country’s domestic cement sales totaled 28.9 million tons, a 3.9 percentage point increase from the same period last year, well below the growth target of 6 percent (year-on-year, yoy). However, this development is no surprise as economic growth of Indonesia has slowed in recent years.
