“Indonesia’s economic potential is unquestioned. The nation of 265 million people has all the ingredients to be a major global player. But converting the potential into business opportunities and success is not a straight path. The Indonesia Economic Forum is the perfect platform to build relationships, gain insights and recalibrate business strategies for building a successful enterprise.”
The quote above stems from Indonesia-based media consultant and businessman Shoeb Kagda, founder of media and political consulting company Synthesis Indonesia; the company that organizes the annually recurring Indonesia Economic Forum (IEF). Since its start in 2014, the IEF has been acting as a platform that allows the businesses community, government, civil society and academics to meet and discuss new ideas to take Indonesia forward. The event has now evolved into one of Indonesia’s premier business and economic conferences.
On Wednesday 20 November 2019 the sixth edition of this event was held. This time the venue was the JW Marriott Hotel in Mega Kuningan, Jakarta. Also at this year’s edition the IEF managed to attract high-profile speakers and welcome distinguished guests. Some notable speakers included former Chairman of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Thomas Lembong, former Deputy Governor of Jakarta (and defeated vice-presidential candidate in the 2019 election) Sandiaga Uno, Fidurhone SA CEO and CIFA Secretary General Jean-Pierre Diserens, Kadin Vice Chairman Shinta Kamdani, and Minister of Research, Technology and Innovation Bambang Brodjonegoro.
