Jobs & Employment: Which Sectors Absorb Most Interns in Indonesia?
Research conducted by online job-seekers community platform Jobplanet shows an increasing trend of recruitment of interns in Indonesia. In addition, the study also mentioned the five top industries in Indonesia that employ most apprentices. What are these five industries?
Jobplanet's research is based on an analysis of the internship job information displayed on the Jobplanet.com website in the period April 2016 to June 2017.
1. Information and Communication Technology Industry
About 29 percent of interns end up in Indonesia's information and communication technology (ICT) sector. Companies that fall into this category include those companies related to Internet, network security, software and application development, telecommunications, IT consulting, as well as digital startup companies.
2. Manufacturing Industry
Nearly 16 percent of interns in Indonesia go to the manufacturing industry, particularly those companies that are engaged in textiles and garments, furniture, cosmetics, handicrafts, home appliances, and electronics.
3. Retail and Distribution Industries
Slightly over 13.29 percent of Indonesian interns work in the retail and distribution industries, for example in trade and logistics, including shops, such as minimarkets, supermarkets, and hypermarkets.
4. Banking and Financial Industry
Nearly 11 percent of interns work in Indonesia's banking and financial industry, including banks, as well as investment and insurance companies.
5. Services Industry
Slightly over ten percent of Indonesian interns work to the services industry. Those companies, active in the services industry, that open many positions for interns are active in the fields of tourism, event organizers, health care and beauty companies, as well as hotels.
