On Sunday 14 July 2019 Indonesian President Joko Widodo unveiled his vision for Indonesia in the 2019-2024 period, which will be his second – and final - term as president of Southeast Asia’s largest economy (with the inauguration of his new cabinet scheduled for late-October 2019).
Widodo, who was joined by soon-to-be vice-president Ma’ruf Amin, made his speech at the “Indonesian Vision” rally - a platform for outlining his visions for the 2019-2024 period - in the Sentul International Convention Center in Bogor (West Java). Besides Amin, there were tens of thousands of volunteers present at the rally as well as several ministers and chairmen of political parties in the Widodo coalition.
There are five key inter-related subjects that will be the government’s main focus of attention in Widodo’s second period: (1) reforming the bureaucracy, (2) infrastructure development, (3) investment realization, (4) development of human capital, and (5) more efficient use of the state budget.
