  • Government of Indonesia Preparing 11th Economic Stimulus Package

    The government of Indonesia is currently preparing the 11th economic policy package. Chief Economics Minister Darmin Nasution told reporters that this 11th package will focus on curtailing Indonesia's logistics costs, reducing dwelling time at Indonesian harbors, and improving the investment climate of Indonesia. He expects the 11th package to be unveiled next week. Since September 2015 the Indonesian government has unveiled ten economic stimulus packages. These packages aim to boost economic growth in Indonesia through deregulation, tax incentives and by opening room for foreign investment.

  • Ease of Doing Business Indonesia; World Bank's Doing Business 2016 Ranking

    Indonesia improved 11 positions in the World Bank Doing Business 2016 ranking. Southeast Asia's largest economy jumped from rank 120 in the (revised) 2015 index to 109 in the 2016 ranking. The 'Doing Business 2016: Measuring Regulatory Quality and Efficiency' is an annual flagship publication of the World Bank, monitoring the regulations that enhance the ease of doing business in the following areas: starting a business, dealing with construction permits, getting electricity, registering property, getting credit, protecting minority investors, paying taxes, trading across borders, enforcing contracts and resolving insolvency.

  • World Bank Cuts Economic Growth Outlook East Asian Developing Markets

    In its latest East Asia and Pacific Economic Update, released on Monday (05/10), the World Bank cut its forecast for economic growth in east Asian developing markets through 2017 primarily on China's economic slowdown. Developing East Asia is estimated to grow 6.5 percent in 2015, down from the 6.7 percent estimate in the World Bank April's update. However, the region remains one the world's key growth drivers.

  • IMF Memotong Proyeksi Global; BI Memprediksi Pertumbuhan Datar di Kuartal II

    International Monetary Fund (IMF) memotong proyeksi pertumbuhan ekonomi global di 2015 menjadi 3,3% pada basis year-on-year (y/y), dari 3,5% (y/y) sebelumnya, karena musim dingin yang keras mempengaruhi Amerika Serikat (AS) dan sejalan dengan itu menarik turun pertumbuhan global.   • World Bank Drastically Cuts Indonesia’s 2015 Economic Growth Forecast

    The World Bank cut its forecast for economic growth in Indonesia in 2015 from 5.2 percent year-on-year (y/y) to 4.7 percent (y/y) as private consumption, which accounts for about 55 percent of total economic growth in Indonesia, is estimated to weaken further in the second half of 2015 while government spending has been lower than expected (causing subdued fixed investment). Furthermore, persistent low commodity prices and tighter credit conditions provide further pressures that led to the extreme downward revision.
