In 2012, about 85 percent of Exploitasi Energi Indonesia's revenue originated from its coal business. However, the company intends to make its electricity business the main revenue earner in the next five years (to about 50 percent of total revenue).
Currently, Exploitasi Energi Indonesia operates one power plant (PLTU) in Pangkalan Bun (Central Kalimantan) which supplies 11 MW. This plant has been in operation since October 2011. The company also plans to construct an additional 130 MW power plant in Pangkalan Bun which is expected to start operating in 2016.
The company has a long-term coal supply contract with state electricity company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN). The deal stipulates that Exploitasi Energi Indonesia will provide a combined 11.1 million metric tons of coal to PLN over a period of more than 20 years.
