To be honest, we were surprised to see deflation in Indonesia in September 2021 as we expected sliding new COVID-19 cases and the government’s relaxation of social and business restrictions (PPKM) on Java and Bali to give a slight boost to demand.
Qatar-based global communications company Ooredoo QPSC and Hong Kong-based multinational conglomerate CK Hutchison Holdings Limited signed an agreement to merge their Indonesian businesses: Indosat Ooredoo (which is publicly listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange or IDX under ticker code ISAT) and Hutchison 3 Indonesia (known for its brand Tri); a deal that is valued at USD $6 billion.
Between November 2020 and June 2021 we saw Indonesia’s manufacturing sector recovering from the ultra-lows that were recorded in the second and third quarters of 2020.
