  • Update Bursa Efek Indonesia: Rights Issue HM Sampoerna

    Produsen rokok terbesar Indonesia, Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna (HM Sampoerna), menyempitkan cakupan harga untuk rights issue 4-to-65 dari cakupan Rp 63.000 - Rp 77.000 ke cakupan baru pada Rp 65.000 - Rp 77.000 per saham. HM Sampoerna, unit lokal dari perusahaan raksasa tembakau global Phillip Morris International Inc., menargetkan untuk meraup 1,4 miliar dollar Amerika Serikat (AS) melalui penawaran 269,7 juta saham. Menurut laporan, perusahaan ini akan menerima pesanan dari para investor institusi dan ritel mulai dari hari Senin (21/09).

    Dalam rangka mematuhi peraturan yang baru, Philip Morris International Inc. akan meningkatkan rasio free float dari unit Indonesianya HM Sampoerna di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) dari 1,82% menjadi 7,50%. Per Januari 2016, semua perusahaan yang terdaftar di BEI diharuskan menjual setidaknya 7,5% dari saham mereka kepada publik. Kendati begitu, saat ini Philip Morris memiliki 98,18% dari saham HM Sampoerna, manufaktur rokok terbesar di Indonesia dan salah satu perusahaan terbesar di BEI dalam konteks kapitalisasi pasar.

  • HM Sampoerna to Increase Free Float on Indonesia Stock Exchange

    HM Sampoerna, Indonesia's largest tobacco producer by market capitalization (controlling about 23 percent of the Indonesian tobacco market), plans to increase its free-float shares by 5.68 percent (valued at USD $1.27 billion) in order to meet the minimum free float requirement of 7.5 percent set by the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in a regulation introduced in January 2014 and which will come into effect on 30 January 2016. By this date all listed companies on the IDX must have a minimum free float of 7.5 percent.

  • HM Sampoerna Studying Higher Free Float on Indonesia Stock Exchange

    Indonesian tobacco giant Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna (HM Sampoerna), subsidiary of Philip Morris International, is studying the requirement to increase its free float ratio from (a mere) 1.82 percent to 7.50 percent. Last year, the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) announced that it would force listed companies to offer at least 7.50 percent of their enlarged equity to the public. This rule will come into effect in January 2016. HM Sampoerna is the third-largest Indonesian company in terms of market capitalization (IDR 295 trillion).

    HM Sampoerna, Indonesia's largest tobacco company, decided to close two of its seven hand-rolled cigarette factories as the company needs restructuring due to its declining market share in the country's hand-rolled cigarettes industry. The market share fell from 30.4 percent in 2009 to 23.1 percent in 2013 as consumers are shifting to machine-rolled cigarettes. HM Sampoerna's hand-rolled cigarette plants in Jember and Lumajang (both in East Java) will be closed on 31 May 2014 and will lead to the termination of 4,900 employees.

  • Philip Morris Indonesia Invests USD $174 Million to Increase Production

    Philip Morris Indonesia, Philip Morris International's affiliate in Indonesia, will invest USD $174 million to increase production capacity of white and clove (kretek) cigarettes. About USD $78 billion will be used to enhance production capacity at its two existing factories in Karawang (West Java), while the remaining USD $96 million will be used to establish a new factory, specifically for the production of Marlboro-branded cigarettes. This new factory will be located next to its other two factories in Karawang.

    HM Sampoerna, Indonesia's largest tobacco manufacturer and the country's second-largest company based on market capitalization, will pay out dividend amounting to IDR 2,269 per share (USD $0.23) as agreed in today's shareholders' meeting (18 April 2013). The company will use its full net profit of 2012 for the dividend payout. Last year, HM Sampoerna recorded net profit of IDR 9.95 trillion (USD $1.02 billion), a 23.3 percent increase compared to 2011.

    PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna Tbk (HM Sampoerna), Indonesia's largest tobacco company, posted a 23.32 percent increase in net profit to IDR 9.95 trillion (US $1.03 billion) in 2012. Net profit per share increased to IDR 2,269 from a previous IDR 1,840 per share. Based on a financial report that was published on Friday (15/03/2013), the company's growth in net profit was largely due to a 26.05 percent increase in sales to IDR 66.63 trillion (US $6.90 billion).
