An Indonesian police plane, on route to Batam, has reportedly crashed between the islands of Mensanak and Sebangka (between Sumatra and Singapore), possibly killing all 13 people on board. The airplane was a twin-engine police jet. Near the crash site items have been recovered that are believed to be parts of the plane. Earlier, Indonesian authorities announced contact with an airplane was lost, 50 minutes after take-off from Pangkal Pinang on the island of Bangka.
The police jet involves a Sky Truck with registration number P-4201. It left Pangkal Pinang at 09:24 am local Jakarta time and should have arrived in Batam at 10:58 am local time.
There have not been any reports of survivors nor casualties. Rescue teams are searching the area for the missing plane. These teams consist of 16 boats, two choppers and one aircraft.
On Saturday (03/12) it was confirmed that rescue teams recovered one body at the crash site. However, the body is yet to be identified.
