Chairul Tanjung is chairman and founder of CT Corp, one of the largest business groups in Indonesia (which is particularly active in media and the financial sector). In order to prevent a conflict of interest, Tanjung will step down from his position in the group. Tanjung currently also heads the National Economic Commission (KEN), an advisory council.

He obtained a bachelor degree from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Indonesia.

Tanjung said today that his main targets are to safeguard limited inflation and a healthy fiscal balance.
