Contrary to our expectations, Indonesia’s headline inflation showed some relatively steep deflation in August 2022. This was a sort of relief as we had seen five straight months of rapidly rising inflation in Indonesia between March and July 2022.

In line with our forecast, Indonesian exports to overseas markets declined mildly in July 2022 (compared to the previous month). However, unlike last month’s forecast, imports into Indonesia expanded mildly over the same period.
On 22 July 2022 a new regulation came into effect, titled Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Regulation No. 9 of Year 2022 on the Amendment of Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Regulation No. 7 of Year 2021 on the Amendment of the List of National Strategic Projects (henceforth: Regulation 9/2022).
