The 8.04 million foreign tourists in 2012 implies an increase of 5.16 percent compared to foreign tourist arrivals in the previous year (7.65 million). Most popular ports of entry were the airports of Bali and Jakarta. Around 60 percent of tourists entered Indonesia through these two gateways. Remarkably, the airport of Bandung (West Java) witnessed a significant growth of 27.3 percent of foreign arrivals.

Income from the tourism industry reached USD $9.1 billion, an increase of 5.81 percent compared to 2011. On average, a tourist stays for 7.7 days in Indonesia and is estimated to spend US $147.22 per day.
