On 28 March 2024 the House of Representatives (DPR) ratified the bill on the special status of Jakarta (in Indonesian: Rancangan Undang-Undang tentang Daerah Khusus Jakarta, RUU DKJ) in a plenary session. This bill was needed as a consequence of Law Number 21 of 2023 on the Amendments to Law Number 3 of 2022 on the National Capital (UU IKN).
On 20 March 2024, the General Elections Commission (Komisi Pemilihan Umum or KPU) officially declared Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming the winning pair of the 2024 presidential election (that had taken place on 14 February 2024).
