  • Infrastructure in Indonesia: Start Construction Patimbang Seaport in June

    Indonesia's Transportation Ministry is optimistic that the construction of the Patimban Seaport in Subang (West Java) can commence in June 2018 after the Idul Fitri celebrations have completed. Meanwhile, the port operator tender is scheduled to be opened in July 2018. The USD $3.1 billion Patimban seaport is envisaged to become a key international seaport in Indonesia with a 7.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) capacity.

  • Infrastructure Indonesia Update: Construction Warnasari Terminal

    Construction of the Warnasari terminal in Cilegon (Banten province) commenced. Indonesian Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi laid the first stone at the groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday (30/08). Zamhari Hamid, President Director of port operator Pelabuhan Cilegon Mandiri (PCM), said the Warnasari terminal is designed to have a loading capacity of 12 million tons in the first phase, which estimated to be completed in October 2019, established on a land area of 45 hectares.

  • Infrastructure Indonesia: Jakarta's New Priok Port (Kalibaru) Opened Soon

    State-owned Pelindo II, the company that is involved in port services across ten Indonesian provinces, plans to conduct another test related to the New Priok Port on 2 July 2016. Full commercial operations are scheduled to start on 15 July 2016. The New Priok Port is one of the large government infrastructure projects involving the construction of a new port (an extension of the Tanjung Priok) in North Jakarta in order to tackle Indonesia's severe logistics trouble, while bringing Indonesia's port facilities on par with other world-class ports such as Singapore.

  • Government of Indonesia Preparing 11th Economic Stimulus Package

    The government of Indonesia is currently preparing the 11th economic policy package. Chief Economics Minister Darmin Nasution told reporters that this 11th package will focus on curtailing Indonesia's logistics costs, reducing dwelling time at Indonesian harbors, and improving the investment climate of Indonesia. He expects the 11th package to be unveiled next week. Since September 2015 the Indonesian government has unveiled ten economic stimulus packages. These packages aim to boost economic growth in Indonesia through deregulation, tax incentives and by opening room for foreign investment.

  • Infrastruktur Update Indonesia: Terminal Batubara Bukit Asam Dibuka

    Menteri Transportasi Indonesia Ignatius Jonan meresmikan terminal batubara baru, dimiliki oleh perusahaan milik negara penambang batubara Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam, di Tarahan (Sumatra Selatan) pada hari Rabu (10/06). Terminal batubara Tarahan ini, yang membutuhkan investasi 152 juta dollar AS, kini telah menjadi terminal komersil terbesar di Indonesia dan memiliki kemampuan untuk mengakomodasi kapal dengan kapasitas maksimum 210.000 dead-weight tonnage (DWT). Kapasitas maksimum dari terminal ini dijadwalkan untuk diperbesar menjadi 240.000 DWT.

    Pelabuhan Indonesia III (better known as Pelindo III or Indonesia Port Corporation III), the state-owned company that is responsible for the management, regulation, maintenance and operation of ports in Central Java, East Java, Bali, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara, may conduct its initial public offering (IPO) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the fourth quarter of 2014 if market conditions are conducive after the legislative and presidential elections of 2014.

  • Seaport Infrastructure Indonesia: Patimban to Replace Cilamaya?

    Indonesia's Ministry of Transportation has completed a feasibility study for the development of the Patimban seaport in West Java. Although there are no official statements made by the Indonesian government, it is expected that the Patimban seaport is the most suitable candidate to replace the Cilamaya port project in Karawang (West Java). This project was cancelled in April 2015 as the location was too closely located to an oil and gas block operated by Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java, a unit of state-owned energy company Pertamina.
