  • Banking Sector Indonesia: NIM and Credit Quality Improve

    The net interest margin (NIM) of Indonesian banks rose while the nation's credit growth slowed and economic growth remained 'bleakish'. In June 2016 the average NIM of Indonesian banks was recorded at 5.59 percent compared to 5.32 percent in the same month one year earlier. The higher NIM is the result of improved credit quality, reflected by a lower non performing loan (NPL) ratio. NIM is the difference between interest income generated by banks and the amount of interest paid out by banks to the lenders. A higher NIM implies that the bank is more profitable.

  • IPO News Indonesia: Bank Artos Listed on the Stock Exchange

    Bank Artos Indonesia became the first company to list on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2016. The Bandung-based private lender was warmly welcomed by investors. During its trading debut on Tuesday (12/01) the company's shares rose 31.1 percent. Through the initial public offering (IPO) Bank Artos Indonesia raised IDR 31.8 billion (approx. USD $2.3 million) by offering 241.3 million new shares, or 20 percent of the company's enlarged capital at IDR 132 per share.

  • Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) Launched Indonesia’s First Floating Bank

    After having opened its first branch in Singapore, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), one of the leading commercial lenders in Indonesia, has now launched Indonesia’s first ever floating bank, named Teras BRI Kapal, in a bid to make banking services more accessible to people residing in the country’s remote islands or coastal areas. This first floating branch will serve the banking needs of residents in the Thousand Islands regency off the coast of Jakarta. In the future BRI plans to send boats to other remote areas.

  • Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) Opens First Office in Singapore

    One of the leading banks in Indonesia, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), opened its first branch in Singapore on Wednesday (29/07), located in the heart of the Lion City at OUE Bayfront, 50 Collyer Quay (near Marina Bay). Today, the new office of BRI was inaugurated by Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Sofyan Djalil, and the opening ceremony was witnessed by Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Rini Soemarno, and Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Muliaman D. Hadad.

  • Growth Forecasts 2015: Bank Central Asia (BCA) to Acquire Small Banks

    While other leading Indonesian banks are eager to expand business by opening branches in neighbouring countries, Bank Central Asia (BCA) stays focused on the domestic market. BCA, Indonesia’s largest private bank, is eyeing to acquire several smaller banks in Indonesia as part of its (inorganic) business growth model this year.   • Banking Industry Indonesia: Bank Mandiri Can Open Branches in Malaysia

    State-controlled Bank Mandiri, the leading bank in Indonesia in terms of asset size, will be allowed to open 20 branches in Malaysia after financial authorities in Indonesia and Malaysia signed an agreement. Although Muliaman D Hadad, Chief Commissioner at Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK), said that the government of Malaysia still needs to ratify the agreement, it is expected that Bank Mandiri will be able to open its Malaysian branches before the end of the year.

  • Bank Yudha Bhakti Listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange

    Bank Yudha Bhakti, an Indonesian commercial bank, made its trading debut on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on Tuesday (13/01). Shares of the small-sized lender immediately soared nearly 70 percent. The bank, which is listed under the code BBYD, offered 300 million shares (11.9 percent of its equity) to the public for a price of IDR 115 per share thus raising IDR 34.5 billion (USD $2.8 million). The initial public offering (IPO) of Bank Yudha Bhakti is the first IPO on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2015.

  • BCA is Indonesia’s Largest Public Company by Market Capitalization

    In terms of market capitalization, the largest listed company on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) is now Bank Central Asia (BCA). BCA, Indonesia’s second largest bank by assets, managed to surpass HM Sampoerna and Astra International at the end of 2014 with a value of IDR 320 trillion (USD $26.6 billion), or 6.1 percent of total market capitalization of the IDX (IDR 5,228 trillion). Despite tougher conditions in Indonesia’s financial sector (amid a higher interest rate environment) shares of BCA rose 36.7 percent in 2014.

    Bank Yudha Bhakti, an Indonesian commercial bank, is preparing an initial public offering (IPO) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The company will offer 300 million shares, or 11.9 percent of its enlarged equity, to the public and plans to raise IDR 34.5 billion (USD $2.8 million) as it offers the shares at IDR 115 per piece. The offering starts between 5 and 7 January 2015, while listing at the IDX is planned for 13 January 2015. Underwriters for the IPO are Semesta Indovest and Equator Securities.

  • Bank Dinar Indonesia Sets Share Price for IPO on Indonesia Stock Exchange

    Bank Dinar Indonesia announced to set its share price at IDR 110 per share at the initial public offering (IPO) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The company hopes to raise IDR 55 billion (USD $4.6 million) by offering 500 million new shares, or 22.22 percent of its enlarged capital, to the public. Approximately 75 percent of the proceeds will be used for credit disbursement expansion, while the remainder will be used to finance the establishment of nine new offices. Underwriter of the IPO is Andalan Artha Advisindo Sekuritas.
