  • Indonesia's Central Bank Expects National Economy to Grow by 6.3-6.8 Percent

    Indonesia's central bank (Bank Indonesia) expects the Indonesian economy to grow between 6.3 and 6.8 percent in 2013, supported by strong domestic consumption and foreign investment, with inflation rising by about 4.5 percent. Indonesian exports are expected to increase due to better global demand for Indonesia's commodities such as coal and palm oil, with commodity prices rising accordingly. But some problems in Indonesia's financial system remain to be solved.

  • Garuda Indonesia Plans to Sell Bonds Worth IDR 2 Trillion in Quarter II - 2013

    Garuda Indonesia, Indonesia's national airline, is planning to sell bonds worth IDR 2 trillion (US $205.1 million) in Quarter II - 2013. The bonds, which are denominated in IDR rupiah, will have a five-year maturity. Proceeds of the bond issuance will be used by the company for capital expenditure (capex), which includes investments in aircrafts and working capital. The airline is currently searching for a lead underwriter through a tender.

  • Net Profit of Crude Palm Oil Producer BW Plantation Falls 18.17 Percent in 2012

    BW Plantation (BWPT), a mid-sized crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernels (PK) producer, felt the impact of weak global demand for commodities in 2012. The company's net profit in 2012 fell 18.17 percent to IDR 262.18 billion (US $26.89 million). Profit per share fell to IDR 64,83 from IDR 79,35 per share last year. The decline in profit was particularly caused by an increase in operating expenses from IDR 131.05 billion (US $13.44 million) to IDR 153.87 billion (US $15.78 million).

  • Bank Central Asia Posts Limited Growth in Net Profit for 2012

    Bank Central Asia (BBCA), Indonesia’s largest lender by market value and second largest bank by assets, posted net profit of IDR 11.72 trillion (US $1.2 billion) in 2012, meaning an 8.3 percent increase from last year's result. This growth is limited compared to net profit of its main competitors Bank Mandiri that posted 26.6 percent growth in 2012, and Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) that posted a 22.8 percent growth in net profit.
