On 11 September 2019, Bacharuddin Jusuf (B.J.) Habibie passed away at the respectable age of 83 at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital in Central Jakarta. By the end of his life B.J. A draft law that would amend Law Number 4 of Year 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (henceforth: RUU No. 4/2023 P2SK) is currently being discussed by Indonesia's House of Representatives (DPR) and cabinet. It was interesting to read that the Ethics Council of Indonesia’s Constitutional Court decided to remove Anwar Usman from his post as Chief Justice (in early November 2023) after he apparently cast a deciding vote in favour of a controversial revision that allows his nephew-by-marriage, Gibran Rakabuming, to join the upcoming 2024 presidential election as one of the three vice-presidential candidates.
