  • Opportunities for Indonesia's SVLK Certified Wood & Timber Exporters

    Indonesia has exported over USD $1 billion of certified wood and timber products to the European Union (EU) since the EU recognized Indonesia's Legality Verification System (in Indonesian: Sistem Verifikasi Legalitas Kayu, or, SVLK) certificate. The SVLK certificate, designed to verify the legality of timber products, is now in accordance to the EU's Forest Law enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) action plan.

  • Indonesia International Furniture Expo 2015 Kicks off on March 12th

    From 12 to 15 March, the Indonesia International Furniture Expo 2015 (IFEX 2015) will be held in the Jakarta International Expo, Jakarta’s largest exhibition venue. This year’s furniture expo is set to become the largest furniture expo ever organized in Indonesia, Southeast Asia’s largest economy. Around 470 companies, furniture manufacturers from all over Indonesia, will display their products (export-quality), including collections of furniture, furnishings and interior design items. The event is organized by Dyandra UBM Internasional.

  • Indonesian Furniture Manufacturer Chitose Internasional Prepares an IPO

    Chitose Internasional, an Indonesian furniture manufacturer intends to release 30 percent of its enlarged capital through an initial public offering (IPO) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in June 2014. Currently, the company is trying to obtain approval from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in order to conduct the IPO. President Director of Chitose Internasional Dedie Suherlan said that the proceeds will be used for the construction of a new factory, which will produce wood-based furniture products. This factory should become operational in 2015.

    Ahead of implementation of the Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) action plan in the European Union (EU) on 1 April 2016, EU members request that all wood and timber products exported from Indonesia into the EU have the Timber Legality Verification System (in Indonesian: Sistem Verifikasi Legalitas Kayu, or, SVLK) certificate. The SVLK is an Indonesian system designed to verify the legality of its timber products. Meanwhile, the EU's FLEGT plan is designed to combat illegal logging and enhance forest management across the globe.
