Indonesia Investments Released January 2026 Report - Indonesia's Golden Future?
On 4 February 2026, Indonesia Investments released the January 2026 edition of its monthly report. In this report we present analyses of a selection of economic, political and social matters that were relevant in the month of January 2026.
What Do We Discuss in the Report?
The first story presented in the report is about gold. Recently a real gold rush emerged pushing gold prices into record highs amid global uncertainties. However, after having skyrocketed, gold prices came down rapidly too as investors engaged in profit-taking.
On the topic of gold, Indonesia is an important country as it ranks among the countries with the largest gold reserves. That is why it is particularly interesting to analyze the gold market and sector.
Another important subject discussed in this report is the massive sell-off that occurred on the Indonesia Stock Exchange after MSCI issued a warning, while Goldman Sachs and UBS also expressed their concerns over Indonesia's stock market.
Next, we take a look at unemployment in Indonesia. Recently, the World Economic Forum (WEF) released a report in which it stated that the biggest risk for Indonesia is unemployment and the lack of opportunity in Indonesia. For us, this is a reason to dive into the country's unemployment statistics.
Another important topic involves nepotism. Indonesia has its own history with nepotism, and history seems to repeat itself as Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's nephew became a Vice Governor at Indonesia's central bank. Again, we emphasize the importance of avoiding the impression of a conflict of interest in a democracy.
Other topics discussed in the report involve the key macroeconomic indicators as well as a separate article on inflation in Indonesia.
