As usual, most foreign visitors entered Indonesia in Bali (Ngurah Rai International Airport), Jakarta (Soekarno-Hatta International Airport) and Batam.

Next year, Yahya targets to welcome a total of 10 million foreign visitors, thereby collecting USD $12.05 billion in foreign exchange income from the tourism sector as each foreign tourist is expected to spend USD $1,200 per visit. Meanwhile, the number of domestic tourists is estimated to reach 254 million in 2015 (spending USD $16 billion in total), three million more than this year’s estimated figure.

To attract more foreign tourists, Yahya said that the government will focus on improving infrastructure (including ICT infrastructure), health & hygiene and accessibility as well as online promotional (marketing) campaigns.

By 2019 Indonesia’s tourism sector is targeted to contribute 8 percent to the country's gross domestic product (GDP) from 4 percent this year.
