  • Yamaha Corp to Build New Musical Instrument Plant in Indonesia

    The Yamaha Corporation plans to invest IDR 568.5 billion (approx. USD $43 million) to develop a musical instrument manufacturing factory in Indonesia. Japan-based Yamaha Corporation is a multinational with a wide range of products and services, including musical instruments, electronics, motorcycles and power sports equipment. Earlier this week Yamaha announced it has established a new subsidiary in Indonesia: Yamaha Musical Products Asia (YMPA).

  • Beatles Drummer Ringo Starr Sues Indonesian Firm over 'Ringgo Star' Brand

    Legendary pop star Ringo Starr was not amused when he learned that Indonesian company Asia Global Media - a Jakarta based information technology and services firm - registered a brand name at the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) that is very similar to his own name. Former Beatles drummer Richard Starkey, known professionally as Ringo Starr, filed a lawsuit at the Commercial Court in Central Jakarta in February 2016 over the use of the 'Ringgo Star' brand that was registered by Asia Global Media.

  • Remarkable News Indonesia: Is Bali David Bowie's Final Resting Place?

    Music legend David Bowie, who passed away on 10 January 2016 after a battle with liver cancer, wanted to be cremated - and his ashed scattered - on the Indonesian island of Bali. American media reported that the rock star wrote in his will that he be cremated according to a Buddhist ritual (although Bali is better known for its Hinduism-inspired rituals). If it would be impossible to be cremated on Bali, then he would still want his ashes to be scattered on the island. Reportedly, Bowie was cremated in New Jersey (USA) on 12 January.
