The Warnasari terminal, part of the Port of Banten, will be developed by Pelabuhan Cilegon Mandiri (owned by the city of Cilegon), state-controlled port operator Pelindo II, and private company Bosowa Bandar Indonesia. Central government officials praise the input of private companies in their quest to boost infrastructure development across Indonesia.

Overall, the loading capacity of the Warnasari terminal will rise to 25 million tons - consisting of dry bulk, liquid bulk and general cargo - in later stages. The port will be able to welcome ships with a deadweight tonnage (DWT) ranging between 70,000 - 150,000. The port will also have an "all weather terminal", implying that it should function throughout the year.

Zamhari added that the geographic position of the Warnasari terminal is very strategic because it is only located up to 2 kilometers from the Cilegon industrial area. Meanwhile, it is also located right at the mouth of the Sunda Strait, an important part of the Indonesian Archipelagic Sea Lane.

Indonesian Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the Warnasari terminal is an important step to boost infrastructure development and to enhance connectivity across the country. This should provide positive stimulus for the economy, particularly the local Banten economy. He added he expects to see good integration between the new terminal and the Banten port.
